Ryoma Rhum Japonais

Did you know that sugar cane originated in New Guinea and enjoyed great popularity in Asia long before it found its way to the Caribbean/South America? Ryoma Rhum is produced at the Kikusui distillery, located in Kuroshio, a small town on the southern island of Shikoku, which offers the perfect climate for growing sugar cane. The distillery is one of the oldest in Japan and grows its own sugar cane for rum production. The hand-harvested sugar cane is first pressed to obtain pure sugar cane juice and then heated to produce sugar cane honey. A special feature is distillation in a stainless steel still, which, unlike copper, has less impact on the spirit and preserves more of the sugar cane’s aromatic components. The subsequent storage in new American and French white oak barrels rounds off the product. Ryoma Rhum is not coloured or cold filtered.

The experience in rum production and the particularly fine sugar cane (a speciality of Japan), give Ryoma Rhum its characteristic taste. It offers a new, sophisticated taste profile that strengthens the link between matured rum and its Japanese origin.

Ryoma Rhum Japonais | 40.0% vol. | 0.7l

Ryoma Rhum Japonais is a 100% Japanese rum: from sugar cane to distillation to maturation. Made from freshly pressed sugar cane juice and sugar cane honey, distilled in a stainless steel still that preserves the aromatic components of the native sugar cane and matured for 12 to 18 months in new American white oak barrels.

On the palate, Ryoma Rhum impresses with ginger, vanilla and coconut flavours and a fresh finish with chocolate and citrus notes.
