Chalong Bay Rum | German Rum Festival 2023

Natural handcrafted Cane fine spirit

Chalong Bay, the multiple award-winning rum from Phuket, is a true expression of Thailand’s rich terroir and agricultural heritage. Sustainably crafted from 100% organic Thai sugarcane, Chalong Bay is distilled in small batches using a French Armagnac copper still. The result is a smooth and flavorful rum with a distinct tropical taste, giving full expression to the Thai sugarcane contained within.

Chalong Bay is the only rum distillery in Phuket, and their adventure started in 2010.

It was born from the dream of two passionate 24-year-old French entrepreneurs who aspired to bring the French Caribbean heritage of pure sugarcane rum distillation back to the original birthplace of sugarcane, combining sustainable production methods and artisanal craftsmanship, while partnering with local farmers to grow the sugarcane with respect of the environment and community.

Southeast Asia is the birthplace of sugarcane, and Thailand is the fourth-largest producer of sugarcane in the world. In their quest for natural purity, the founders collaborate with small local farmer-owners to cultivate a single variety of Thai sugarcane, adopting organic farming practices devoid of chemicals and pesticides, and employing a non-burning harvesting method. Their commitment to using pure Thai sugarcane and natural Thai herbs and spices has resulted in a portfolio of distinct rum flavors that celebrate Thai terroir and culinary culture, including Pure Sugarcane, Lemongrass, Thai Sweet Basil, Cinnamon, Kaffir Lime, and White Spiced, featuring 9 local botanicals.

Furthermore, Chalong Bay has charted new territory in the history of pure cane rums by introducing the first-ever pure cane rums with over 40% alcohol content and barrel aging from Thailand. Chalong Bay’s High-Proof rum is bottled at 57% ABV, offering a true embodiment of their distinctive Thai flavors. Additionally, Chalong Bay Double Barrel, aged in new French Oak and Ex-Armagnac casks, invites you to discover the first barrel-aged sugarcane rum originating from Thailand.
