Helios Distillery is located in Nago City in the north of Okinawa Prefecture. Spirits have been distilled here since 1961.
It was important to founder Tadashi Matsuda that an alcoholic beverage be made from local ingredients. Thus, he exclusively used sugar cane from local plantations. This concept has remained unchanged to this day. In the meantime, the 3rd generation is already working in the distillery. Ryo Matsuda, Tadashi’s son, and his daughters are fully dedicated to the production of authentic and good products.
But it is not only rum that is produced here; the range of spirits is broad: Awamori (national drink of Okinawa, a rice wine similar to sake), whiskey, liqueurs, craft beer and law-malt beer. The distillery has three pot stills.
