Tres Hombres Rum is a pleasure for all who share the passion of the three daydreamers who have brought their dream to life with the Tres Hombres.
Since 2009, the 3 captains have been sailing the Atlantic with a small regular crew and numerous changing trainees, trading as they did 150 years ago. Without engine, electricity or navigation device you start the voyage of several weeks with a fully packed hold from your home port Amsterdam. On the way to the Caribbean, stockfish is collected in Norway, olives and olive oil in France, and port wine in Portugal. Once in the Caribbean, all goods are sold in various ports just to make room in the hold again. The journey then continues to various distilleries, where the classic rum in oak barrels and cocoa and coffee beans are loaded.

Back in the Netherlands, the liquid treasures are then bottled, sealed and labeled by hand. The special thing about these bottlings are the limited quantities. As in the past, only what is available is bottled. For one thing, there is only room on board for about 16-22 barrels. And for another, no blends are aligned according to specific flavor characteristics, so each edition has its own special appeal. This makes the rums of Tres Hombres real collector’s items! A captain wouldn’t be a real captain if he didn’t pick out the best pieces from his hold himself, and so every year there are a few bottles of the so-called Captains Choice bottlings – straight from the barrel into the clay bottle, of course at barrel strength.
