Under the leadership of Richard Seale, who now runs the family business in its fourth generation, a modern and quality-oriented course is at the center of attention as Master Blender. Richard Seale is considered one of the region's most creative rum specialists and is famous for his masterfully balanced and intensely aromatic rum creations. The Foursquare Distillery stands out clearly from many other Caribbean producers as it is family-owned and operated. Traditional craftsmanship has always been the heart of its philosophy and shapes the entire company. Foursquare's distillates are predominantly based on molasses and are fully distilled, matured, blended, and bottled in Barbados.
Doorly's is also a brand of the renowned Foursquare Distillery in Barbados. All rums in this line are made from fermented molasses and undergo the entire production process – distillation, maturation, blending, and bottling – on site. Richard Seale, the current owner, represents the fourth generation of rum connoisseurs and fundamentally changed family history with his innovative designs for the Foursquare stills in 1996. Today, the Foursquare Distillery is located on the historic site of a 17th-century sugar factory. As a family-owned company, Foursquare enjoys the freedom to design and develop its products independently – a decisive difference from many Caribbean distilleries, most of which belong to large spirits conglomerates.
